Sailing the Southern Caribbean What's next, and what's possible

You made it. The hard miles are behind you, and the whole Caribbean lies ahead. Now what?

In this course, Captain Deborah Marlor, a USCG licensed captain with more than 32,000 nautical miles, takes you from the U.S. Virgin Islands south through the Leewards and Windwards to Grenada, where many cruisers stop and never leave. From there she turns west through the ABC Islands and along the coast of Colombia to Panama. At Panama you choose your next chapter: through the Canal to the Pacific, or north to Roatán, Belize and Mexico.

The course builds on Bruce Van Sant's proven principles: research first, timing, geography and data-driven passage planning. Captain Deb adds modern weather tools, decision systems and risk management. The methodology stays the same; it's the technology that has changed.

You'll learn:

How to plan each channel crossing and time it for daylight
How to route well north of Venezuela to reach the ABCs safely
The honest truth about the Colombian coast, and how to sail it well
Your options at Panama, and how to prepare for each one
Bonus: signature dive sites along the route for the divers aboard

Preparation creates freedom: the freedom to go on, or the freedom to stay.
